coaching extremes 5 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
i am a 6 foot 2 inch tall 16 year old thrower. i have had both extreme kinds of coaching. one that was all about drills an d another that was weights and running focused. i was wondering which is better. i throw same distances either way but if focusing on one type more would help that would be great. i had a coach who was just like me i body size and techinque. the other was a male. which extreme is better?
thank you

I agree with Coachpeppers. However, you need to find what works for you. I have an athlete that loves to bust his butt on everything. Which has caused him to go up in his distances progressivly. I would say that instead of bouncing around between coaches I would stick with one or the other and give it a far try to see which you like better. Personally I would have to suggest plenty of short sprints and higher intensity weight training. But drills need to be included, I have always told my kids that technique and speed will trump strength most of the time. So I would spend the same amount of time in all areas if not more time in drills and sprints. (Sprint motions can be with medicine balls too)
